better known as “Moma Sherry”
In 2013, Moma Sherry, took over the organization with one mission in her heart: to keep her son’s legacy alive. Joining her in doing so was Prince’s son Prince Jr. He took over imitating everything from his father’s good looks, to dancing, to now as an adult choreographing becoming Chicago’s First Young CEO of the dance Industry. Since then and still now; they both have continued honoring his memory through countless community events, performances, shows, and participation in one of Chicago’s most beloved traditions, the Bud Billiken Parade, which has become one of our biggest and most meaningful celebrations each year.
Moma Sherry has also opened her home as a safe space for children, supported them with their education, and poured genuine love, guidance, and care into every child who comes through our doors. This isn’t simply an organization or a dance team—this is a passion, a family, and a legacy. We believe every child deserves a chance to be seen, supported, loved, and given the opportunity to become something great.
Our motto says it best: “It takes a village to raise a child—why not start with Prince Edwards Dance Company?”
